Atoms on Broadway
Chicago, United States (2006-present)
Atoms On Broadway are an American rock and roll band formed in Chicago, IL in 2006. The band consists of Greg Crandall (vocals/piano), Korsen Janney (guitar), Tim Crandall (guitar), Joe Bigalke (drums), and Michal Gryza (bass). They released their debut LP, Week-
end, in March 2010.
Founding members Greg Crandall and Korsen Janney first met in high school where they formed the short-lived art-punk band, Love At Twenty. 2005 saw the release of that band's first and only EP, The Red Notebook. Despite the minor success of the album's single, "Said The Kid In The Coma," the duo decided to move in a different artistic direction--dissolving the band. In 2006, they reformed as Atoms On Broadway--this time adding Bigalke on drums and Greg's brother, Tim, on guitar. Gryza, a Polish man, joined the band in late 2007.
While not officially becoming Atoms On Broadway until November 8, 2007, their core members had been informally playing together for years. Cutting their teeth in other bands around the northern Illinois area gave them extensive experience playing live and in the studio. Individually, they've played all over the Chicagoland area including such legendary places as The Metro, Double Door, and The Empty Bottle. They have a loyal following throughout the midwest US and have just released their debut LP, Week-end, which was recorded at the legendary Gravity Studios in Chicago.
Balancing the raw edge of today's best garage-art rock with an intellectual late-70's pop sensibility, Atoms On Broadway combines the best of past and present indie rock to create a sound that's unique, enthralling, and most importantly, damn fun.
